20 years today – Thank YOU! ❤️

Hi everyone – Last night, after teaching one of my weekly Zoom yoga classes, I sat in my garden reflecting, celebrating and thinking about you – the students and colleagues who I have met as a yoga teacher.

You see, this is a special year for me personally, because 20 years ago, on June 11, 2001 at the Decatur-Dekalb YMCA from 7am-8am, I taught MY FIRST of many, many, MANY public yoga classes here in Georgia.

This past year has been unlike any other during my 20 years of self-employment teaching yoga and offering bodywork. While our Southern home-grown “Atlanta Yoga Scene” truly has evolved, this past year churned all of us like no other year I can remember.

Unfortunately not all of our students have made it, not all of our teachers are still teaching here, and not all of our studios will be navigating a re-opening. Yet still many of us are continuing to create small steps towards recalibrating how we practice together going forward.

At present, I am seeing clients for privately for Thai massage and Structural Integration (Rolfing) at my home in Atlanta. To schedule a session, send me an email with your phone number!

On Zoom, I am teaching with At Home Yoga & Well-Being (Mon 6:30p eastern – Slow Flow & Breathwork; Thu 7:30p eastern – Chill Yoga). Just this past week, I’ve started talking more with local studios about teaching in person again, however, I have not yet made any decisions. When I know more, I’ll share more!

This year for Pranakriya, I will be teaching two programs via Zoom Teaching Yoga Online: Pranayama (Tuesday, August 17, 2021 7p-9p) and Anatomy for Yoga Students & Teachers (October 22-25, 2021).

If it wasn’t for students, I wouldn’t have had a teaching career, so I thank you for sticking with me all these years, learning with me while I grew in my practice, teaching, and understandings. Thank you also for helping me learn how to be a better teacher for you. If you had any thoughts you’d like to share about our time together, drop me a line, I would love to hear from you, reconnect and reminisce!

Here’s to the next 20 years! Much love and deep breathes,

—William

Here in Atlanta, we do have a rich yoga community, and I truly feel blessed to be a part of our community. As I mark this milestone on my teaching journey, I’d like to name some specific Atlanta studios and teachers that I know are still serving our community today for being such an integral part of my journey.

Please support these amazing Atlanta teachers and studio communities as we figure out who we are becoming next! I know I am forgetting people, so if you’re not listed here, it’s the fault of my memory, and nothing more. ❤️
